Well that there is about the stupidest list I've seen in a month a Sundays. Lee Sklar and Carole Kaye in the 40s????? No mention of Edgar Myer??? (or any of the umpteen other Nashville bassists who could play rings around 80 percent of the "list makers"). So many were left out and so many piddle asses were included. There is a distinct difference between being famous and being a virtuoso. Pffffffffffft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I completely agree. Lee Sklar and Carole Kaye defined the sound of bass guitar in modern music. Also, Paul Jones.
I would put Jaco at the top and although Stanley Clark had some interesting and ground breaking albums, he should be below Jacko, Paul, Lee and Carol in terms of contributions to modern music. Victor Wooton should also be in the top 5.
Lee Sklar below Kiss? Vince Gill's bass player not even on the list? That rating was done by an amatuer.
