I've had enough. These forums are impossible. You can't even help a person resolve a technical issue nowadays without somebody being on the attack or somebody giving advice based on a thread they haven't read (thinking its their own thread or something) or actual facts.
I'm sure some people will be happy to see me go.
Bye.
I hope you don't leave. Not that it matters much what I think, but being a passionate and sometimes strong opinionated poster myself, there will be people that disagree with you. This we all accept being on a forum. However, the level in how they disagree or deliver their message is what's really important.
Though you mean well and are passionate about what you believe in as well as your experience, the dude you are battling with is a good dude that is pretty hard to anger. Bub also gave good advice about this too and didn't quite agree with the bios thing. I don't say that because these guys are friends of mine as I NEVER take sides or play favorites. When someone is wrong, wrong is wrong....but I personally felt the advice these guys gave is pretty spot on. The last thing you want to make someone do is a bios flash. It is a last resort no matter how fool proof it may have been 300 times on your end.
The great Jim Roseberry will even attest to it. You don't flash the bios unless you've tried everything you can think of, have picked the brains of others in the know and have exhausted every possibility. Think about what you're saying here Alex. Seriously man....you're talking about flashing a perfectly working system just because it seems to be having some Sonar X2 issues. Ok, it could be the bios....it's not that it's bad advice, I just think it's a bit too early for it. Reading the guys post, he said X1 was fine and his issues started with X2. Do you really feel someone with good results using X1 should be forced to do a bios flash due to issues with X2? I'm just being realistic man. That sure isn't something I would do nor do I think anyone else should. I'm not trying to disagree with you, I just sincerely believe that. I'd try another DAW before I'd flash my bios due to Sonar.
You also can gain additional system settings by updating your bios and it can take a few days for an inexperienced user to figure them out. Even going "default" can alter things considerably. The fear of God should be in the man especially if he doesn't even know how to flash the bios or may not know how to go into the bios editing screen and make changes. I mean seriously bro, you can't be upset with people for stating what is in fact, the obvious when a user is not familiar with this sort of thing. Though it is often times fool proof in today's times, there has never been a bios flash for me that just worked without me having to alter things in the bios settings as well as accommodate the new options that may have been added. It's just something I wouldn't advise anyone to do unless it's absolutely necessary.
That said, though we'll have to agree to disagree about this, I too would hate to see you leave the forum for what it's worth. But I share the advice of Bub and Grant and would advise Windows updates and more prying before doing a flash. That would be my absolute last resort. Sorry if this upsets you, but I'm just giving my opinion and trying to explain why others may not share your beliefs on this one.
