I know this about posting and reacting:

if you want to get upset, you'll get upset

if you want to not take it so seriously, you'll roll it off with a laugh

Agree wholeheartedly with HooliStudios. Well said.

Alex, I value your contributions and would be extremely sorry to see you leave.

If people don't want to take your advice, then that's up to them.

And don't get drawn into any flame wars with other members - life's too short for any of that carp!

Alex - What I try to do is correspond with the OP and ignore all the hot air in between.

Having said that I also probably help almost as much by PM nowadays. Sometimes users don't want to post their problem for fear of some of the replies they might get. That is a sad state of affairs........but I guess that's the internet.

Just filter the BS and carry on with the genuine topics. That's my take on it.

After this thread

I've had enough. These forums are impossible. You can't even help a person resolve a technical issue nowadays without somebody being on the attack or somebody giving advice based on a thread they haven't read (thinking its their own thread or something) or actual facts.

I'm sure some people will be happy to see me go.

Bye.
Truthfully I don't think anyone gives much one way or the other about who leaves or who stays.

There's been plenty of good people that have left before and the place rolls on regardless.

If you can't cope with the idea that someone isn't lapping up everything you say without being outraged by it you probably wouldn't last that long here anyway.

I happen to agree with what ohgrant was trying to tell you and warning the OP he stood a fair chance of bricking his PC by taking your advice.  If you had a problem with that then it's clearly YOUR problem.

I keep my BIOS updated but there is no way on Earth I would take the responsibility of advising anyone to do the same because of the dire consequences of what could happen if it goes awry.

Interesting words used in that emboldened section as having observed your input here I'd say you've described yourself pretty much down to a tee there.

Leave or don't, nobody really will be that bothered either way when it comes down to it despite the 'love' that may get shown on this thread.  You'll just go down as another forum suicide, yet another victim of throwing a self-inflicted hissy fit for not getting ones own way.

Jamesyoyo has got the right size of it.

I won't be, Alex.

I have felt the same recently, but we can't leave because of dullards.

I have started posting less, because fighting the poor wretches can seem a little tiresome.

Just laugh at them.  Some of the people on here who used to wind me up now provide my daily comedy.

You know Sonar is working for you, so take pleasure in their misery.  PM people if you have good help for them and stupid people argue with your advice.

Now just watch as they all turn up to air their ignorance in public.. (sits back with popcorn..)
edited for clarity

Some nicely reasoned constructive points of debate you added there...  You're obviously way above all the other 'poopy-panted' types you seem to refer to in your post.

Hey, JB101 I love that original "Admittedly, it is difficult to reason people out of positions they didn't use reason to attain." quote in your sig.  What did you use to attain it.  Irony?

Sounds like some bit of reworked and cliched wisdom that Anderson fella would have come out with.  Only a shameless bum-nuzzling sycophant would adopt that as a signature surely?

But then in your eyes I probably have 'poopy-pants' anyway.

Gotta love it here who would want to leave?

It is impossible to leave here... I've tried, but there's too much good stuff to ignore.

All of us on this forum have had run-ins or been attacked at one time or another for whatever reasons. It would be a shame to lose any of the established posters in here. We all do learn so much from each other when we're having a problem. Alex has been around a while and he has helped a lot of us with his experiences. I would hate to see anyone that has contributed as much leave. I just hope before he goes he realizes that he has much to contribute to this forum and some of us still value the help that he can give.

Reading this thread, and especially since there were MP posts recently in other threads; I have always be inspired by this:

Igor: It's times like this that I remember what my old dad used to say.

Dr. Friedrich von Frankenstein: What was that?

Igor: "What the hell are you doing in the bathroom all day and night? Why don't you get out of there and give someone else a chance?"

OK. Maybe something more relevant and musical artist related?:

There you go man, keep as cool as you can
Face piles and piles of trials with smiles
It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave
And keep on thinking free
