So I'm getting ready to clone my main harddrive over to an SSD and I have to go through and cut as many corners as possible to get my 900gb down to under the 256gb the ssd is gonna be. I'm down to 230 so I'm basically good but I want to try to get it under 200 just to be safe.
I found a thread online that explained that it's OK to move the dimension multisamples folder (which is something like 13gb I believe) to a different harddrive and then in the registry how to find where to change a registry value telling dimension where to look for the multisamples. So I did that, loaded up Sonar, loaded an instance of Dimension. Everything works. Yay.
BUT... Then I'm trying to find more space to save... Now keep in mind the Dimension Pro was in \Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro.... Well I just found in \Program Files\Cakewalk a whole 2nd Dimension Pro folder... with a the entire Multisamples folder in there too.
So now I'm not sure what to do... Should I just remove this one since I have the other? But if so, what if I have projects using THIS version of Dimension Pro... if I remove it, they won't find Dimension Pro and then they won't load... Right? Also I didn't find 2 dimension pro's in the registry so I can't really move the multisamples on THIS one and expect to be able to edit the registry for THIS one too...
Pretty confused as to what my best action would be here... Any ideas?
Also, here is MY idea... But I'm nervous about doing it... Leave the "Dimension Pro64.dll" in this 2nd Dimension folder and just erase its multisamples and hopefully from that same registry entry it will look for the same multisamples path as the other one... Anyone think that will work?
Oy...
