I got this error-thingy:

Well, there's your problem Alex!  It tells you to click Retry, Ignore or Abort but the only options you get are Afbreken, Opnieuw or Negeren!

But, but, but, it's the only "Dutch-speaking computer I have" .....................

Not entirely truth, I do have an ancient desktop that is connected to the security cams in my musical places. And it has a huge HDD of 20 GB :)

Let me see.

I wonder if it has anything to do with granting Administrative privileges to this lot of litter that it distributes all over sensitive system areas of you computer.

Windows\msocreg32.dat
Windows\System32\msvcsv60.dll
Windows\System32\w3data.vss
ProgramData\autobk.inc
AppData\Roaming\msregsvv.dll
AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\isindex.dat

Do I kick them out?

Are these also included in their Virtual Instruments? I thought they were related to Custom Shop. I used not to mind all that much but I read a thread elsewhere recently which lead me to believe that getting rid of the IK stuff might have other benefits than just me being done w/ it, privacy-wise.

No point they'll just come back all the time you are running IK stuff.

I had the joyous occasion to authorize 2 IK programs I got with another program...... Sample tank and Amplitube 3.

Since this is a mostly off line DAW I opted to do the "offline" auth on the 2 apps. TOTAL FRUSTRATION and nothing worked .... I mean nothing.

It created the auth request file and I loaded it to the USB and transfered to the lappy (online computer). The next sequence of events was the most frustrating, confusing mess I ever encountered. It said I needed to DL the Auth mgr since my version was too old. I did. Then I tried the auth procedure to get the file.... it never seemed to give me the return file just kept asking me to upgrade the auth mgr.

I finally gave up and connected the internet to the off line DAW and I eventually got the A-3 authorized.... I'm not quite sure if Sample tank was authorized or not.... I gave up on that too.

Seriously, this is bad.

I've not tried any of the new IK stuff but these went with pretty much everything of IK's I put on to try before.

Their uninstaller wont remove them either you'll have to delete them all manually after uninstalling anything IK to be rid of them completely.

IK support wont discuss their exact function but do say they are nothing to worry about and are likely to do with Authorization.

I've examined them and they are indeed innocuous in themselves but obviously perform some function along with IK's copy protection scheme when everything is in place.  I don't like it from the point of view is that they are all named to look like bona fide system files and are all placed in areas that would constitute a security hazard.

I've got some pretty heavily protected software on my machine and I don't mind the fact that vendors have to protect their stuff, but whenever I've had a concern about one of these schemes I get straight answers as to what things do and what they are for if I'm curious enough to ask.

There's just something about any dealings I've had with IK, the aggressive marketing, the over censored forum, the difficulty in getting straight answers, that just puts me off owning some pretty good products otherwise.  However good they are with the product line though there's plenty of providers of good products that I feel far more confident about dealing with and I don't feel I'm missing out anywhere really by not owning anything IK.
