Thank you Karyn.
Soens it was a serious attempt to envolve a few in something other than buffoonery.
"It might be more fun to start with a chord progression or bass line. " Two things hit me wrong with this-
One is that there was a conversation in this thread about a project that was done with a chord progression (acoustic part)
which obviously you didn't read or totally disregarded as of no value.
I can tell you that I was amazed that a tune like that could happen with the participants having only a guitar part to write to.
I didn't realize that until I was informed and probably was before and didn't catch it.
The other thing that rubbed me is by suggesting other ways you were shooting down an idea that hadn't been given a chance.
I can tell you in all honesty that more than 4 songs that I wrote for Jeff that are in my link were written to drum parts. I use drums
to inspire my writing/ideas. To me the "groove" is what I feed off of.
The idea of having folks write a tune only to one part came to me by listening to an intervue with Tom Petty.
I took his way of writing a step farther by limiting what a participant can write to.
So one was done with only the acoustic part with excellent results. My hats off to them.
Yes I do trust you/us. I trust you'll understand that I don't submit musical ideas that may benefit us lightly....but maybe that's
just my problem.
