I got a ticket to see Deep Purple for my 18th birthday when I was living in Australia. I had been on a three week coach trip around the country with very little sleep and went straight off the bus, to a pub for beers and then to the venue. I was really wasted half way through the show and the entire venue smelled of good ol' rock 'n roll tobacco.

When they played Smoke on the Water I cried like child! Overwhelming - it was the first thing I played when I got my first bass guitar at the age of 10
