Does Sonar run natively on a Mac?

Reason I ask is, I read an article recently that was a few months old that said Sonar will soon run on Mac, and at the top of Cakewalk's web page it says, "The World's Best Software For Recording And Making Music on PC and Mac"

Everything I see shows PC only downloads. Am I missing something here?

I'm certain you have to run bootcamp or something on a Mac.  There are some Cakewalk instruments which run natively on Mac, but not Sonar itself.
 
The thought has crossed my mind to get a Mac and be able to parlay my Sonar investment -AND- be able to run Logic...  But it get's pricey.

Z3ta, Rapture and Dimension all work on Mac, so Cakewalk actually make "software for recording and making music on PC and Mac".


Sonar going native on Mac is probably the last thing you'd want to see. They'd much better stick to one platform.

Sonar going native on Mac is probably the last thing you'd want to see. They'd much better stick to one platform.

I'm trying desperately to find that article and I can't. It was one of the better known review mag's, but I can't remember who it was now. :(

Honestly, I would jump on over to Mac if I could get a solid working Sonar Producer Edition on it.

BTW ... I just made Freddie's head explode upstairs. It's a mess, gray matter everywhere. LOL!

I know which article, I saw it last week IIRC, when someone mentioned it. Something like a DAW comparison, in which they were saying that Sonar was being ported. Not sure where they got that from.

You know, for a while after I switched, I felt like it'd be nice if Cakewalk made a Mac version of Sonar - though I was thinking more along the lines of Sonar 8, not the X series. When you've worked w/ a product for so many years, you'll inevitably miss it for a while.

But the more time passed, the less I missed it. 

And having recently started re-working old Cake-era projects into Logic, I found myself thinking that I should have bought a Mac and Logic way back when I started. It's the ultimate DAW software for me.

So now, even if Cakewalk released Sonar for Mac, I'd have absolutely no interest, if not for just a tiny bit of curiosity. 

But strategically, I don't think it'd be a wise move for them.

As a Logic PC refugee, in retrospect I should have moved to Logic / Mac in 2007.
