..I mentioned that I had scored a board of figured Sapele about a year ago and
remarked about the amazing grain....well I finished all the router work except going for depth
in the control cavity and got a little sanding done before I started making the P-90s- so after
I wiped it down with some Napta I had to take some shots so you could see
the wood. 
I sure hope I run across some more of it.
I'm liking the natural Maple so wanted to show it wet and hear your thoughts...
 
Man! Isn't that some amazing wood?!  And that's just sanded to 150 grit.
I sure don't remember ever seeing it.

I'm a big fan of clear finish over beautiful grain.

That looks super nice.

That's some pretty stuff.
I like a natural finish, but as I viewed the maple at 15-20 degrees off center on my laptop(the magic of led screens), the striping was positively stunning.
I'd be tempted to hit it with a 70/30 blend of Pecan/Mahogany stain, fairly lightly.
I would go totally natural on the Sapele.
My woodworking adventures are still on hold, but it's always a delight to see what you are working on.

You could always just paint it black, beat it with a chain, and put some Dimarzios in it.

Where that pattern comes through on the sides I have never seen the like of before.
 
You're the only one that could possibly specify the finish on this, nobody else on the planet is going to take on the repsonsibilty of making that call.
 
I haven't seen as fine a figure as that since my hair started to turn grey, and even then it's probably just down to the fact that nostalgia is rounding off some of the harsh edges of the reality.
