Totally with you there. Definitely try your best to exhaust everything possible if you have the time and desire. Just know you got me if you need me...I know ya know that. Not sure I can help, but I sure can try and hopefully we can laugh ouselves into oblivion while doing so. :)
I really think it's 64 Michael....I just find too many weird things on my system. Yet, I was having a talk with Ed (Bapu) and he tried some of the things I was crying about and they worked perfectly for him. Whatever it is, it's gotta be system specific. Then again, there are people that have experienced the same things as me with x64...so we're not totally out of our tree. Here's an example that just happened to me yesterday..
I'm working on a video for one of the plugins I help to develop. The one thing I wanted to do, was show how it works in Sonar 64 because we've gotten quite a few complaints of it not working. So I wanted to show how *I* make it work as the plug was not built for x64....but it does work.
As I'm doing the video, there is a segment where I play my guitar. So I have to switch to cam mode so people can see me playing instead of watching Sonar capture my audio. Sonar 64 will crap out on me every time when the video is running at the same time. I can't even have the drivers set to 64...they need to be at 512 and of course I get a little latency.
Now I know what most people will say here. "Dude, do you really expect to run a camera taking video in real time and Sonar with plugs etc at 64 sample buffers without any drop outs?" I would answer "no, I really don't expect it to work without a few issues and work-arounds."
However, do the same thing in Sonar 32....and not a single drop out. There is just something weird with 64 on my system. Like I said before, even my band templates that work perfectly in 32 bit Sonar, drop out when using x64 using the same exact template or give me latency. Not to mention, bit bridge hates me. So for me, totally dismissing 64 has helped me other than when I need to use a bunch of VSTi's. That's the ONLY time I notice a difference worth noting really. But this is rare for me as I normally don't need more than 8 or so in a project. And even there, 32 bit Sonar handles things quite well until I start running 3 drum kits in Kontakt at once. Then I have to go over to 64...but even that's rare and only seems to happen with multi instances of Kontakt. Then again, Kontakt and I are enemies. Oh to bring that program to life and fight it in the ring for 5 rounds. LOL! :)
Oh yeah, quite lucky to still have Dad. We both have a hard time believing and accepting he's 77. Still moves around like a 50 year old and looks every bit of 60. A few issues here and there health wise, but nothing that stops him from working 40 hours a week at Rowan college while walking nearly 12-14 miles per night as a supervisor. I'm truly blessed....if only we still had mom though.
