Excellent. Love to see problem solving going on. Michael, you are a very tidy worker.

Tim it's not "square" that's important...it's the center line of everything.

Yea Spacey. got that. The "center line" dictates square, no? I mean, the line is there because it is square to something I think.
I guess there is no magic though. I guess, like everything else, you just go for it and hope for the best....

My questions remind me of the kids wanting to know what plugin 'he' used to 'make it sound like that'...

Are you going to make some sort of insert to complete the template at the foot of the pocket?

best regards,

Thank you guys for the kudos....I'm just glad you enjoy it.

Tim your questions are good ones. Probably much better than my answers.
Maybe "straight line" rather than "center" makes more sense to you.

Mike if one has a template then this is not really needed.

I mentioned that and that I had a template and used it to router the pocket and thought it would help to show it. I also noted the difference should one not have a template-
After lining up the neck then mark on the body how long the tenon will be going.

What I didn't mention and why you asked (good question) was - after marking the length then one would put a stop block lined up so the router would stop exactly where it should.
With that one would have one of two things to do. Chisel the corners square for the
tenon or round off the corners of the tenon to fit the size of router bit used.

I got distracted by the wonderful pictures and didn't read where you had spoken of the template. :-)

Thanks.

Every time I plug in my beloved Ruby, I can't help but think of all the time, effort and passion you put in to creating her. So I can't help it, I just love watching over your shoulder whenever you're in your workshop.

Same here with my Spacey/BapuBazz. In fact I'm tracking a piece with it today.
