  Hi guys

I haven't promoted my music in 3 years or so, and I had a manager / agent at that time.

I'm now fully independant and have a new album being mastered and almost ready.

A new website and video are also on the way.

My question is:

What are the websites I need to be involved with / have a profile / network etc?

I of course understand Facebook, Twitter and Soundcloud, but what else is good to:

1/ reach genuine music fans

2/ find professional opportunites

Are things like Taxi.com / sonicbids etc still "the way to go" for licencing opportunities?

Anything else anyone can recommend, advise, share success stories etc.

I need to put some kind of manageable "plan of action" and I have to admint I'm a few years behind on the online music scene.

So, which websites would you say are best both to build fan base and find professional opportunities?

I would be most grateful to hear your thoughts, experiences and advice.

Many thanks,

Vinny

The Maillard Reaction

It seems like the manager/agent representation is still vital if you want to focus on the music.

If you're not out playing shows and growing a fan base than the online stuff is a long shot gamble even if you start paying big money to get placed at the head of the list.

At least I think that's how it still works. :-)

Thanks guys. yes, I'll play live and interact with real people.

And yes, I'd like to get a new agent on board at some point.

In the meantime... I'm on my own..

I just wondered, as far a web marketing is concerned, where to put my efforts. It is clear from that video link that there are so many websites, offering so many things, and if I were to engage fully on all these, I would have to work full time just on online promotion.

As this is not realistic at the moment, I am trying to identify where I should focus on first and concentrate my efforts, make the best choices in terms of time commitment / possible results until I can widen the activity.

Jango sounds pretty good so far.

Cheers,

Vinny

cdbaby is another site that seems popular.

But as you already know and others here have mentioned, live fan base is key.

Then you have to tell them that if they want to support you and purchase your latest CD go to site so and so.
