Truth is more can be learnt about music production and music production software in the other forums below here.

Try a visit to the songs forum, populated by a friendly and helpful crowd with a vast depth experience from production to composition.

The techniques forum the same.

In fact any of the other forums other than this one can be found most helpful, as for the coffee house it is an ideal place to find some of the best unfunny humour out here.

As to the a-hole reference.

I find the biggest offenders reside right here in this forum, they are also the most frequent that fail to offer an example of their work be it original or work done for other artists.  (I do not know of an artist that is not looking for a bit of free promotion)

i.e. Full of it but nothing to show for it.

In other news... my "metal" album seems to be morphing into more of a heavy prog rock album now that  I'm attempting to record some scratch vocal tracks. The growling and grunting wasn't working for me and apparently I've turned into a lower register Geddy Lee in my old age.

Funny that.

Well, I couldn't find a better, more talented bunch of a-holes and I'm happy to be included with them.

That's OK, so has Geddy.

I don't know Wookiee. This forum isn't about techniques its about helping fellow users with Sonar. I think it does a good job in that area. True we do get into techniques and equipment and plugins and on and on but it all relates to using Sonar.

In the other forums Sonar isn't even required.

I agree with this. You should read the Book called "Drive" by Daniel H Pink  its a book on how and why most business got it all wrong when trying to get their production and new and innovations  ideas up.

In a nut  shell the book shows research that when business cracks the whips on employees to get more creative and get more ideas they actually do worse.

When the employees were left by themselves in social situations via company picnics and lunches in a relaxed atmosphere  then creative ideas flowed and things got done.

One thing Google started doing because of this was if my memory serves me correctly ... was basically give Thursdays as a day for employees to plan a social and do what they want ..... I guess things like gmail and google plus came out of that (although google plus is getting its butt kicked by facebook)

Other companies started leaving their employees  alone rather then heavy monitoring and some other employers gave 20 percent of there clock time to their employee to do what they wanted.

The only study that this wasn't effective was repetitive  factory work. Then and only then was pay a motivator.

interesting book .. Drive by Daniel Pink

My point is ... that is how I look at the coffee house. A very creative group called the CHB was formed there. TONS AND TONS of other collaboration have been done there.

I also find answers to my computer issues from the people I know there. Sometimes its through email or a phone call. But it all started in that Coffee House.

I really think the Author of Drive has some valid points.

Carry on

Methinks my leather clad minions might be taken a little aback by this new turn but... I've never really been one to cater to the fanciful whims of my peer groups.

As to Mr. Lee... I have no idea how he managed those squeals in the first place. I used to be able to get through a few verses of the old Rush stuff but inevitably the voice cracking would take hold. Now that I seem to have hit my second puberty I think it's best I don't even ponder attempting such things lest I attract the neighborhood cats looking for some love.
