Given the recent spate of threads, I thought y'all might appreciate a little humor. (By the way, you'll need to click "Continue to page" to skip the opening screen).

The ultimate irony is that Dan Goldstein at Acoustica is the one who pointed out to me that this column had been posted online.

The funny part is that all the DAW manufacturers who've commented on it so far think I'm talking about their users.

You hit it on the head in a different thread: with the seemingly limitless plugins, hardware, and configuration combinations, any DAW programmer is fighting an uphill battle trying to come up with a program that works for everybody. Use the right software for the job at hand.

You must read this forum a lot. That list is right out of this forum. I wonder if there are any copyright issues?

LOL Just in time.

I really try to avoid the negative threads, but ya know sometimes ya accidentally get caught in one.  (It is possible to get snagged when Trolling is going on )

Trust me, it's right out of all DAW forums. It's therefore public domain :)

Sure.

Some of us though have augmented our software tools with different tools and don't limit ourselves to a single application and are aware that they are not all created equally.  Also some of us have no interest in the software we choose other than they offer us things we like and that they work well and have no vested interest in showing one thing in a good or bad light unless it fulfils or fails in that criteria.

Likewise different manufacturers deal with customers differently to others some bad some good.

Lastly whilst I'd agree that all forums have pretty much the same players with different names it is a top 5 that is certainly designed to overlook some of the reality behind them in order to support an agenda.  Then again you did warn us that it was snarky, so you fulfilled that brief for sure.

I'll give you a real example from one of the great unwashed forum massive that you are mocking though.

One company I've officially reported more than several bugs to, sometimes more than once, yet none has been fixed in subsequent upgrades, thats not even counting the all too numerous ones that are known so I haven't bothered to report because I know for a fact others have reported the same things, yet via another DAWs forum I've casually mentioned a couple of issues that I wasn't sure were actually issues or user error and lo, I've been contacted by support who have worked through issues with me until they were resolved.  3 bugs in total I've reported there in the same time frame every single one has been addressed in the very next release.  I can always elect also to join the public betas that run for a few months every time a major release happens and actively work on get extant bugs fixed that way.

One of those places is this particular forum and one isn't see if you can guess which one is which.  I'd like to be able to offer a little joke about that but sadly that's the actual facts.  So I'm sorry if that comes across as a bit of a downer.  Some folk have enough intelligence to discern differences I'm afraid and therefore don't fit your cosy little insider generalisations.

So your fun chart there might have been posted as light relief but I consider it to be hugely insulting to many of those here that are clearly having serious issues and yet are having trouble being heard among such things as the glibness you've just posted, not as harmful as some of the personal stuff that gets thrown at people because they dare mention can't get the software to do enough of what it is supposed to do I grant you but unhelpful just the same.

Oh, and someone really had to point out to you that an article that you'd written had actually been posted online?

Unbelievable.

Not only that the humour is pretty lame IMO, you want a good belly laugh I'd suggest spending half an hour in the Coffee House.  It might be at your own expense mind you but if you ain't too prissy about that kind of thing I guarantee you'll have yourself a few laughs among some really gifted comedians...

Who is the funny guy in the Coffee House. The only things that have ever made me laugh there are links to outside articles.
