Nothing that has been posted by him lately is nothing but a celebration of this forum and its membership.
I
definitely celebrate this membership, I even like the people who disagree with me for two reasons: 1) I'm not always right and if I'm not, I want to know about it; and 2) Monty Python's argument clinic is classic, and sometimes it's fun to play. It's not like I take this all that seriously (the Craig's List should have been a clue). And
so many people here are just plain smart, cool, and helpful. I've learned a lot by coming to this forum, and several weirdass Sonar problems I had were fixed within minutes by communing with the search box and taking advantage of someone else's expertise.
Once there was a thread in the Ableton forums where the OP savaged me for being way too straight, old, and normal to have any business doing DJing on stage, with a link to me performing. I just sat back and watched the thread, and truly found out the meaning of "I don't care what you say, just spell my name right." Several people who'd never heard of me followed the link and liked what they saw, so by bringing attention to me, more people checked out my music, books, and various other projects. It's a really fun variant on the law of unintended consequences.
The funniest part, though, was how it ended. After the debate about whether I was cool or not, one person said "You know why he's cooler than you? Because he doesn't give a f*ck what you think." Thus ended the thread.
That wasn't
quite true; I do want to give people what they want. For example if someone's going to spend $30 on an Advanced Workshop video, then by golly, I want them to learn something and feel they got value received. But if they don't like my age or my clothes...then guilty as charged, I don't give a f*ck what they think
I always appreciate kind words, but no one needs to worry about my feelings. I feel very welcome here, realize that the various Eeyores are simply wired that way, and come here to engage in dialog. Well, and to get ideas about which subjects to cover for my Sonar column in
Sound on Sound - this is the Focus Group of the Gods for that application.
