hey guys n gals, i am using i7 8 gig,2 tb, win 7 64 bit, cakewalk sonar x2,roland studio capture.
i have a radeon 5700 graphics card which allowed me to finally have 3 monitors displayed. one for track view, one for console veiw and one for vst plugins and studio capture mixing board. the only problem is now that i have 3 monitors i can no longer play videos and edit them. windows media player does not play video files anymore either. i did have to make the active display out into one of the flat screens 24 hertz in order to play 3 monitors. could this be the problem? i really don't see why videos would be effected. i have tried to Google this over and over and no one is having this problem, but using 3 video monitors is not very prominent in recording studios either.

out of the radeon card i am using one dvi to dvi computer screen. one hdmi to flat screen tv. and one display port to active display port adaptor to hdmi tv screen and all displays are 1080 compatable, but as stated before the display tv had to be changed to 24 hz in order for the computer to find the 3rd monitor.

quick time did play an avi video but the lips were way behind. the windows media player not playing the same file really puzzles me. any help would be appreciated. thankx

Ya, I don't think the 5700 may be able to handle three monitors. But you can look around here and see if your video card handles such things like that. May have to do a bit if searching, and I am not sure, since i only use one monitor.

otherwise with video card drivers and everything, sometimes they just don't work good enough to drive like 3 monitors. Actually I am not sure about any of that so that is all I can give to look there and read about some of it perhaps.

and I have a Nvidia Geforce graphics card so I am not familiar with ATI-AMD graphics cards and any of that.

From that "sevenforums" link I posted above, it seems like you may only need a Display Port Dongle: http://www.the-cable-store.com/contents/en-us/d12_hdmi-to-displayport-adapters.html ......the HDMI or DVI one....

it does do 3 monitors and i do use an Active display adapter.
this is my sonar x2 pro set up guys.
i7-8gig,roland studio capture, win 7 64 bit, sonar x2 pro, soundforge
1.  dvi out to dvi monitor.(track view) (60 hz)
2. hdmi out to hdmi 32" flat screen tv.(studio capture mixing board-vst fx)(60 hz)
3. display out to ACTIVE display adapter to  hdmi 32"  flat screen tv.(console view)(24 hz)

the set up works fine. my question was when i use all the monitors, i can no longer edit videos.
windows media player will not play avi type files with the 3 monitors going,
however i had to change the display out to tv to 24 hertz in order for the radeon 5700 to find all 3 monitors.
so is it because my hertz are so low on the on output? why does windows media player not play avi or video files anymore with 3 monitors?

Sorry viziovizio, I didn't read your OP properly........I can only "guess" that the video card isn't powerful enough to handle the media player/avi's when all 3 are hooked up??
