It's only 12 notes right?  What's the big deal?

Alluding to music as "only 12 notes" is a ridiculous and lazy statement on a number of levels:
  1. Strictly speaking, this would only apply if all music consisted of a monophonic melody and was written within a range of one octave (a similar misinterpretation would be akin to stating that "The electromagnetic spectrum is only seven discrete polarised wavelengths of visible light")
  2. Even if it were "only 12 notes", music consists of an infinite range of expression, instrumentation and timing, as well as polyphony (chords/harmony etc much?)
  3. If you play a stringed instrument such as a guitar, string bending allows you to play an infinite number of notes. The true 'blues note' for example, which doesn't fall on any of the "12 notes" anyway.

Whaaaaaatttttttt?!?!

So, you're expecting us to believe that you became both commensurately numerate and a(n undoubted) master of the English language by not watching Sesame Bun?

May I refer the honourable gentlemen to Series 11, Episode 6 where The Count clearly informs Big Bird that "Starting a sentence with the word 'And' is completely acceptable" and to Series 7, Episode 4 (The Director's Cut) in which Bert clearly does not chastise Ernie when he says he will "prolly" have 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 EIGHT peas for his lunch.

Pfft and tshh.

I know, and there's only 26 letters in the alphabet. Why aren't we all best selling authors?

 22 in the hebrew alphabet.
