Your experience may be recent but problems with the "Generic Low Latency" driver go back for years.

Yup, I got bit by that one last year after a trial install of Cubase Elements. It totally fubared Sonar, until I removed that driver.

Either unplug audio card and then plug it back in....then, restart Cakewalk, or just re-install drivers. I did the former and it worked after that.
