Well the past two weeks have been a nightmare for my family, my grandad fell at home an smashed his head open and being on blood thinning tablets lost life threatening amounts of blood due to his blood not clotting and was found unconscious on his living room floor. The emergency services said he had been there for a good 15 hours. Luckily his neighbor was alert and had noticed he hadn't been seen for a day and phoned the police. To cut a long story short the house was covered in blood and all the furniture, carpets and units had to be thrown. The house was also falling apart and classed as unlivable. What we wasn't expecting was for a friend to put a plea for help on a social network and the amount of donations of furniture and local tradesmen offering there help for free has touched our family and put a smile on grandads face. We can not say thank you enough to these people who have made the house livable and comfortable for when he is well enough to leave hospital. I had just about lost faith with modern society and the look out for number one attitude but the people of west Berkshire have proved me wrong! THANK YOU!!!!!

I'm glad your grandfather was found in time.  I wish him a speedy and thorough recovery.  It's great to hear about the generosity of everyone, too.

That's heart warming and good to know there are compassionate, selfless people in this world. This gives hope and strength to carry on through the stresses and concerns of life. :)

Wish your Grandad well, and best to all of you. Thanks for sharing your story.

More good news just had the estate manager round to see the damp in all the rooms as there is no heating in the house (as grandad was told that they would charge him an extra £70 a month to have it)and they have agreed to to put heating in at no extra charge. He's going to be in hospital for a few weeks yet as they think they need to operate on his heart as he has a narrowed valve, but he is improving loads. Mind you he doesn't think there is anything wrong with himself but he did say he enjoyed his bed bath with his pretty nurses!

What an ordeal for the poor guy to go through! I hope you're planning to do something nice for that neighbour. A nice fruit basket, at least.
