Intel also offer a 1 year-no quibble CPU swap should your amateur clocking attempts result in you degrading or destroying the chip

 
completely pointless. the processors have built in thermal diodes so you cant fry them long gone are the old days when you could actually fry a chip..
they already have a 3 yr warranty anyway..

so in your opinion, it isn't necessary to wait for the newer processor?

I was talking about the intel warranty for over clocking..
what new processor? only thing coming is the newer Haswell-E late summer.
the budget haswells have already been refreshed. (sorta) 4771 instead of 4770
4770K is still what you buy for OCing.

the one makaze mentioned that was coming late summer.  Im just gonna go with the 4770
