Since it was a "jam track" I can only comment on the guitar tone and playing. The tone was alright. The playing...well, it sounds like you're more of a clean player who's just dabbling in distortion. That's too say, there were hardly any of the hallmarks of rock guitar. Few if any bent notes, not much sliding into notes, almost no hammerons or pulloffs, no double stops, no sustained notes. There just wasn't much of the stuff that makes a great rock solo great. It was just kind of the same ladder climbing notes over and over and over.

On this song I'm playing over a backing track so the organ and bass were baked into the track .
I liked the organ that was in the track so I brought it up as much as I could , also I did some tape stop effects on my guitar so they sound sort of like what an organist may play .
I'm glad you enjoyed my guitar playing on this Jam Track ..thank you for the kind word and giving this one a listen

No need for name calling. I don't know what you're so bent out of shape about. I like some of the other things you've posted. This one just didn't do anything for me and I told you why. I just don't think rock is your thing. You seem much more competent playing clean guitar. For most people it's the other way around, so I don't see why you would take that as a slam. Nobody's good at everything.

You have the audacity to come to my Home Group Music Forum where I have been a member in good standing for over 12 years & Then you come here with less than a months time on this forum  and you go about insulting  a couple of my friends that have posted their songs and you think that I'm gonna let it slide ? and be OK with it ?

Seems a rather harsh assessment - I wasn't aware we were only supposed to post stuff worthy of airplay. It takes considerable guts to post your music online for others to critique and I have always thought of this as a forum where people can showcase their talent - such as it is - and receive constructive feedback on their work. In my experience, if someone thinks your work can be improved they will say so and offer opinions on how you might do that. If your music doesn't do it for them - they might tell you that too; we just try and do it in as constructive a way as possible.
 
Oh and if we really don't like something we hear - then we might just not offer an opinion at all.


I hope that helps you understand how the forum works and that you can find a voice here that fits in to the spirit of the place - if so you'll be made welcome I am sure. If it's not for you, then the interweb is a big place...

Frankly, both vocals were terrible. The guitar was just a wall of distortion with no finesse. The songwriting was very amateurish. That's probably the only bit of honesty you're going to get here, so please take it. Go ahead and call me names like "Simon" etc., but I tell the truth when no one else does, and that's what you need to hear.

Geez dude, everyone started somewhere. Let's hear your stuff...

Your piano / keyboard skills are painfully rudimentary. Just jabbing at the keys is not playing. If I were you, I would take a few years to really learn to play an instrument before posting stuff. Otherwise, what's the point? What I heard was just irritating even on a beginner level.

I just joined a website called Jamkazam where I can download all kinds of backing tracks, so I have all kinds of stuff to jam to now. Thanks anyway.

There is no secret . I'm somewhat transparent about some of the approaches I use in my music and guitar playing. I'm perfectly willing to share them openly  .
It all started for me just like everybody else . Self taught at first then I took some lessons , from there I went on to a long arduous journey that even involved a Musical Conservatory Scholarship I drank my way out of  ..
Eventually  I had gotten sober and I made the jump to playing and studying with Name players ...
All of that was OK back then in time yet I felt there was something missing that I could not quite put my finger on..
 
A personal highlight in my music took place when I took part in an experimental Music program under the guidance and the direction of DR William Schimmel .
During my time with Bill ( a mentor and a friend ) , he had taught me and one other student an overview of the whole Julliard School of Music Curriculum in less then 6 months .
 
This feat was accomplished by Bill teaching myself and the other student a technique under his direct guidance on how to will our minds and psyches  into an altered state of conscious that involved operating the mind from an Alpha Wave state of Consciousness when it came to Music .  A basic overview of the technique conformed pretty much along the lines of a basic guided meditation / form of hypnosis with a couple of unusual twists ...   
I was given the opportunity to create my own unique Bio Trigger . My Bio Trigger serves as a bridge and the password for me to allow myself to surrender to the process that I was taught . Since I do not hold my guitar pick anything like how most guitarists hold their picks I happened to choose the way I hold my pick as my Bio Trigger
more on that later ....
While learning and performing Music  in this natural altered state of consciousness I had noticed that many of the musical stumbling blocks that I had suffered from were non existent....
All the typical lower level attributes of the mind such as the judgmental mind ,the choice making mind and right or wrong side of the mind  were not even present in this state of consciousness ...  
Everything that I was exposed to musically in this state of mind shone for exactly what it was ...
Every session involved testing ..before and after ...with before trance , I was tested on pitch recognition and  I did rather poorly ...about 50 % ...after trance I was able to consistently hit with an 98% accuracy average ...
Then when I went into a before trance after having been in a trance beforehand my average did climb only a little ...
This taught me a very valuable lesson ...
There are parts of a persons mind that they don't know they have or can use ...even the smallest percentage of tapping into that untapped resource can yield a remarkable transformation of knowledge and ability
Now back to my Bio Trigger ...even though I haven't consciously put my self into an altered state of mind deliberately in years my Bio Trigger still is a gateway to unlocking some of my hidden ability's and talents when it comes to guitar playing ...I trust it , it still works for me and I kid you not when I say this ...
Every time that I play , once having gotten done , I have to sit down and study what I just played
I kid you not , I have to learn how to play my own stuff because I tapped into another part of my mind that for some odd reason the person we all know as  " Kenny " is locked out of
 
If somebody here thinks that I have totally lost it that's OK , I know it sounds odd or weird ...
The thing is  many years ago there was a guy named Edgar Cayce  who was quite ordinary as a human being in every way except for one area at first ...
Early on he discovered that if he put a book under his pillow he would have the full knowledge of everything that was written  in the book once he went into a semi sleep state of mind ...
This was only the beginning for him . This has been documented thousands of times in front of witnesses that questioned him in great detail at length and wrote it all down
What makes Edgar's ability super interesting to me is once Edgar came out of his semi sleep trance , he had absolutely no knowledge of what had just taken place or what he had channeled ...it all went poof ..
He later went on to do many other things ...I can't get into that here because of the forums TOS...
 
Anyway today is my moms birthday , she would have been 80 ...
I'm glad I'm talking about these topics today  because not only did she put me in touch with Dr William Schimmel who was a friend of hers , she also worked for the organization that was founded based on Edgar C... works ...
