Which can sometimes lead to confusion and misinterpretation (not to mention the occasional hostility from those decidedly in favor of more direct forms of communication).

So you just have to know he is not generally talking about what he is talking about. And you just roll with it if you wish to enjoy his considerable wit.


For instance, if he is talking about the absence of someone/something, then he might really be talking about the presence of someone/something.


Of course this leads to an obvious question:
If he appears to be trying to be witty and clever, what does he really want us to think?

That's where I get confused. I assume Mike isn't trying to be disrespectful but at first glance it comes across that way.

It sort of implies, "you've taken care of us so well we hadn't noticed you'd gone for nine months". Undoubtedly my stupidity will be pointed out fairly soon.
