As stated in another thread Old55 and I (with Old's friend Scott) attended panel discussion on MIDI. The panel was comprised of Tom Oberheim, George Duke, Craig Anderton, Alan Parsons, Dave Smith and Jordan Rudess.
Jan and I saw Jeff "Skunk" Baxter roaming the aisles.
Fun Cakewalk story. Jan and I were chatting with Seth and he mentioned that the next presentation was on V-Vocal. I admitted that I only used V-Vocal for the first time just last week. So, Jan and I sit in the front row (and I'm directly in front of the presenter). Seth introduces TC aka Spitfire as the presenter. I'm looking at the guy half thinking he looks like somebody but I can't place it. About 30 words into his presentation TC looks directly at me and say "Are you Jason's dad?
**" to which I say "Jason Kocol?" and he says "Yeah, it's me Tony". Tony asks me what DAW and I use and I say "SONAR" and he says "Why
Am I sitting up here teaching you something, you should be up here teaching me something".
Small world?
** My son was in a band with Tony in 1998(ish). Jason played bass in that band. I recorded their 4 song demo for them on Alesis ADATs. I have those tracks converted to SONAR projects. I'm going to send them to TC aka Spifire (that's Tony to me).
OK, I'm no bitflipper when it comes to NAMM so here a few of the pics I shot:
