What makes it a bit longer is that I'm so used to hearing it one way that I need to give it a bit of time whenever I replace something, because it doesn't sound "as it should".

Ya, I know I'm suffering from that too.

Hope you get it the way you want it. Look forward to hearing it Rain.

I sat down last evening and came up with something. I'm not sure what it is yet. The new looper is really helping me to put parts together on the fly.

I had to dug out my old POD for this one, particularly for the clean guitar parts in the verses. The darker/muffled tone just made the guitar sit better. I also had to give up on the idea of recording solely w/ the Les Paul and blend in a bit of strat in there - just a touch but it had to be there. I don't remember layering so many guitars before. Even the little Les Paul Junior was put to contribution.

The choruses were a different story though - they finally got the much needed clarity and definition that I couldn't achieve w/ just the pod - though I did record a few takes w/ the POD and to blend some of that in.

And I finally managed to find alternatives for those drum fills. All in all, I think the song sounds much better, but retains the vibe of the original. I have the old stereo mix imported into the project, which I un-mute/solo from time to time, for reference.

Starise, glad to know you're enjoying the looper. I think there's a looping function in my Spider amp - but I'll need the floorboard to access that. Looking forward to it. :)

I used to have a few of those units too.  Maybe you could borrow my friend's little Rockman rig - he's down in the Los Angeles area (when he's not being on tour as Tommy Shaw for Dennis DeYoung that is!).

Rockmans were sweet!

Why does American ingenuity always take a good thing, mess it up and call it "Mrk II", then discontinue it altogether?

I ask, again. Why?

You have a lot of questions Soens.  Good questions, yes, but a lot just the same.

Which leads me to the conclusion - I'm never selling/giving away another piece of gear again.

I still have a few goodies from the 80's. One by one they are dying on me, though. eBay to the rescue. When supplies finally dry up I'll have no choice but to hold a funeral... and they will be buried deeeeeep.

My Tascam 644 just now started failing to transport in Play and FF. I have a spare for parts but I think it has the same issue.

Rhetorical, mostly.
