When I was a very young kid I usually spend weekends at my grandparent's place on a dreary council estate in Longbenton, Newcastle. This was in the 70's. It consisted of a "court" or square surrounded by 3 or 4 story apartment blocks that looked like something out of communist Russia. I have memories of a gang of neighborhood toughs, fronted by what seemed like a giant older kid, who were scary and menacing and seemed to be up to no good all of the time, I was quite scared of them. In my mind they were always like this beefy gang of lowdown bruisers who you didn't trifle with. Well, my brother uploaded this old scan of a photo of them onto Facebook:

Even scarier than I remember them.

It's the ones that won't look at you... like the ring leader in the wary eyed red car that are the scariest...no way to judge their emotional state...could go medieval on yor ass at any moment.

I was always taught that if you're in an argument with a thug and they either look away or put their hands in their pockets, it's a good sign that you're about to get head butted.

Me on the right with white stripe on hat, as you can see the cuteness factor is off the freaking chart

I miss those old B&W photo booths. Here's me and bro in Paris sometime in the 70's....check those flare out

Ya know Bapsi, ol pal...when I was nine years old I got to sit on Mr. Ed while we both had lunch.  No foolin.  He had a bag of feed and I had a tuna fish sandwich that my Aunt Floy had made.  Then we went to Disneyland.  When it was new.
