Just want to know from anybody what computer would be sufficient to handle Sonar X2? I have an HP 9650 AMD quad-core desktop. Windows 7 X 64 bit. Would an i3-i7 Intel be more efficient than the AMD?

I would prefer an i7, but your current computer should be capable of running X2 just fine. I don't think you need to upgrade your computer (unless there is something wrong with it) but if you're going to buy a new computer anyway, I'd go for the i7.

I prefer Intel processors, but there are folks who like to argue that AMD is just as good or better. In fact, some of them will probably be posting here shortly.

I prefer pure dylithium crystals.  They're hard to find in this galaxy, but worth it if you can get  your hands on some.

Dylitium is pretty much blown away by the new trilitium. But if you are short on funds it might be better to wait, as there are reports of the imminent commercialization of the quadralithium deposits recently found in the Nekrit Expanse.

Pffttt! Dilithium crystals are a dime a dozen on Troyius.

Of course, the food sucks on Troyius - Troyians are a stubbornly proud people so they won't import food staples. If they really cared about food quality they'd start using quadrotriticale.

If you post your system specifications,  Windows version, hardware and software versions and the problem your having, someone might be able to help you.

I'm have an instance of X2-64 bit Producer running on a Core Duo E7400 at 2.8 gHz, w 6 GB ram under Windows Vista Home Premium SP2, quite a bit less computer than you describe, and just under the required minimums stated by Cakewalk.

It supports two monitors and a MOTU rack with two 2408mk3's on a Core 424 PCI-E DSP card, 15 to 20 tracks playback, stereo recording, with no pops or crackles, recording at 24 bit, 48 kHz, with instances of Real LPC, Overloud, Studio Drums, Studio Bass, Breverb,  R-Mix, and T-racks Opto compressor. Running ~5 busses, 10 sends, looping, editing, and a full screen of console view.

That's as hard as I've pushed it so far.

Been testing it out for about a week, and have yet to lose any data, though I did hang the box once, it refused to save, I gave it some time, it recovered and I rebooted.

From there you ought to be able to do a bit of legwork with benchmarks and get an idea of how your current box will perform. The CPU number I recall was around 1250. The CPU number for my I7 was around 9500.

Hope this helps!
