  • If you had it to do all over again... a new computer and a blank slate. (p.3)

I bought what I would consider a very basic system:

Pro Studio DAW
  - Case: Silent Mid Tower
  - Power-Supply: 600w quiet
  - Haswell CPU: 4770k @ 4.5GHz (8 th..
  - RAM: 16GB DDR3/1600
  - OS drive: 500GB HD
  - Audio drive: 1TB HD
  - Burner: 24x DVD/RW
  - Video: HD4600
  - Operating System: Windows 7 x64 Home P..

Now, when it gets here, I will pull my 3 head video card and install that.
I will pull one of the 1 terrabyte drives out of my existing computer and install that.
I will install my RME HDSP card.
I will install a brand new UAD-2 quad and maybe the UAD-2 Solo card from my existing computer.

Hopefully, it won't be too long till I'm making music again.

You're in good hands, I would put one more drive in there for "storage" and
the picture cache. Maybe its ok on the OS drive, but...
I keep toying with the idea of an SSD for EZD, SD2 and Trillian.
Lots of use (for me) and a little "slow" to load.
Maybe May 6th I'll do that in my current Cat.

Well, guess what is sitting in my office right now.  Dang, this thing is heavy.

Jim, have you put radioactive protection in these things?

Gawd, I hate setting new computers.  Oh, I love ordering them and getting them but what drudgery.

Ok, the computer is on, and the three head monitor card is set up and running fine.  In fact, it's what I'm posting with right now.

Next: RME HDSP 9652 card installation.

RME installed and the drivers look good.
Now to install the two UAD-2 cards.

UAD Cards are in.  Now to transfer a SATA drive from one computer to the other.
