I knew there would be resistance to this direction cake has decided to take the forums.  I never thought it would be this hostile.

Currently this committee is deciding exactly what the direction truly looks like.  Ryan and Willy will determine the final say with our input, but they might disregard anything or everything we've suggested in the committee and implement it the way they see fit.  they are the ones who have the final decision.

It is my thought that any time a forum host acts in a way that violates the TOS (which is also currently under revision by this committee), that any member may report that forum host for the violation.  I feel it would be appropriate for a member to report that forum host to Ryan or Willy directly if the need is substantiated.  That is the accountability the forum hosts would be held to (not to mention there is a "code of conduct" which is a higher accountability than the TOS which forum hosts must adhere to)  they are not Admins of the forum, and they will have limited powers which can all be overridden by an Admin.

if there's a problem with a forum host, report them to the admin.

Hi Beagle. First,I don't sense hostlity. Just a few different points of view. Which, imo, is not necessarily a bad thing.

Edit: spelling

I'm cool with whatever. Those identified as "potential" hosts are all good people. No idea why there seems to be some resistance to it. The best thing would be to simply make the changes and move on. The longer change is talked about the higher the opportunity for resistance.

Like the Nike commercial says "just do it".

Hey Tom,
I guess it's really only Steve's passive/aggressive and sarcastic posts which seem hostile to me.  hostile may have been a poorly chosen word.

different points of view I think are very welcome and are actually a very good thing.  I hope the conversation can continue without finger pointing and lack of respect for one another.

I tried being an elitist once.

Who am I kidding? I was the best!

I have no idea whether Steve is joking or not. I find myself equally thinking "that's something to think about" and "who gives a crap?".  Yes, the coffeehouse often contains posts that are probably technically violations of TOS (plenty of political and occasional religious stuff pops up), but among such a mostly homogenous group it's somewhat of a non-issue.  Most of the borderline stuff is non-disruptive because for the most part, it ends up being pages of "me too".  None of them tend to get into the more volatile debates that occur outside of coffeehouse. The bottom line is that as long as they are moderating outside of coffeehouse according to the standards set by Cakewalk, how they conduct themselves in coffeehouse is a non-issue to me.  The FSF stuff is silly, but so what.  It's not hurting anyone and they are all willing participants.

Will the new hosts compile the standard repeated questions, and their standard repeated answers, into a faq?

It seems as if the easy way for a forum host to delete a thread is to add a link to the fxpansion web site in the OP.

HTH

LOL Mike, yep that will do it!

I'm standing by to see what extra functionality the Fourm Hosts will have.
