You'll stilll be licensed to run W7 with your current license.

Put another copy on you second partition and upgrade that one if you want it upgraded online.  I think you can order the upgrade media as well but it's probably at extra cost.

Thing is when you get one of these introductory offers that seem to be all the rage just now is that if it doesn't tempt you during the offer period it becomes even less tempting afterward.

I've just ordered my cheapo update just in case I ever decide to jump but it's going to take some persuading from what I've seen and experienced so far.

If it ain't broke and all that.

Suse Studio is a great alternative but then again; for pro audio and video production I'm not entirely sure because I've not yet carefully researched and trialed Suse Studio.

    Hi,

I bought 2 of the Win8-Pro with the disks ... knowing that it was going to go away.

I'll wait for the first SP's to install one of them. The other I am going to do a fresh install on a new Hard Drive ... on my main computer, since it is only a 300G bugger, and on WP-Pro it has some issues ... it will become one of my enclosures for backups!

When I install the one W8-Pro 32-bit (not a 64-bit user yet!) ... it will be new Sata Seagate Hard Drive (550G), 8G of memory, a new Power Supply at 550W (machine has issues with the 500W Power Supply) and a GTX650 Video Card.

Already downloaded the drivers for Gigabite 880 motherboard. HD should have no isses, and the only one that could have problems is the video card ... specially as the current drivers for NVidia are hosed on Windows 7 ... and I'n not exactly enthused with NVidia ignoring this right now. It looks like the problem is Windows 7 that will not allow the new file to get installed. I'm going to uninstall it, clear the file and folder, defrag, and then reinstall it with an older version of the driver.

I keep thinking that the less there is, the easier it will be!

    Yep and WordPerfect too.

I miss Word Perfect ... what a massively great product it was ... and Borland killed it! And they had excellent support, too, which Borland also killed!

I miss "Reveal Codes" ... and notice how HTML is all the reveal codes' stuff!
