  • TH2 Free Presets giving File Encryption Message. [SOLVED]

Bub
... but thought I'd give a shot here since you guys hate me a little less than the people upstairs and figured I might actually get a response here, even if it has nothing to do with the question.

........................................................

I downloaded the 30 free presets and imported them in to TH2.

After doing that a message keeps popping up on my task bar ...

"Encrypting File System - Back Up Your File Encryption Key"

And there is an icon to click and it asks me if I want to back up now, later, or never.

I don't have any data encryption software on my DAW. I've never seen this message before, and it started immediately after importing the new TH2 Presets.

Any ideas why this is happening now since I installed the TH2 Presets?

  1. I feel duty bound to remind you as I also posted upstairs that we are not supposed to use presets so it doesn't really matter much does it?
  2. On a more serious note perhaps there is some sort of encryption software that is part of TH2. I certainly never read all the install terms & conditions before I installed. Haven't installed the preset pack yet due to number 1 so have no idea if it is going to would have done that on my system.

I doubt any of the preset files are encrypted. If they were, then I guess others would have been reporting the same thing. I posted in the thread upstairs how to check for encrypted files on the drive, however.

I for one didn't post on the thread upstairs.Mostly because I haven't read about any issues and second I didn't install them yet but was going to after my 2nd up of coffee kicks in.

Oh and just for the record.
I like ya Bub.

Some of those presets are top secret recipes.

The encryption means it must be important.

I got it figured out.

I downloaded both of the free TH2 add-on packs and installed them at the same time ... it wasn't the 30 free preset one, it was the other one that has the IR's that has the encrypted files.

I assumed you had to save the IR .wav folder to the TH2 directory, but it looks like you don't have to. All the files in the one with the IR's are encrypted.

I deleted all the files and the pop-up message stopped showing up.

Thanks for all the help.

I updated the thread upstairs, marked it solved, and put a link to the video digi2ns posted in this thread.

Thanks.
