My bad, partially - that's using the native Mac core audio driver. I never bothered to download the M-Audio drivers since the interface was detected immediately and worked "plug and play" IIRC.
That's cool!

Jim Roseberry is a fan of the Fast Track Ultra. I remember he was disappointed when he found out they discontinued 64 Sample support. I seem to remember reading a thread about it upstairs.

Too bad they don't make that Beta driver available. It was more stable than the final release one they have up there now. I never had one BSOD when I used that driver, even set at 64 samples. It was a crappy thing to do to their customers.

Tell me that's not like, "totally weird."

I just found the link on their forum for the last beta driver that supported 64 samples, I logged in, but the link is dead.

Damn it.

The Fast Track (regular, not ultra or pro) has served me well for the last 2 years. Flawless performance, even at 32 samples. I never needed to raise the buffers until I started doing some serious mixing. The preamp sucks though.

I'm still considering the Fast Track C series for my audio interface upgrade. Looks like a great little interface.

Wow! I also just found out that you can't get drivers for any USB devices on M-Audio's web site anymore. You have to go to Avid's site, and they have old drivers! That's great news! Now we can get the older drivers that supported 64 sample buffers.
What makes you say that? The C400 driver is available on the M-Audio website here:

http://www.m-audio.com/in...ort.drivers&f=1200

I notice on the Avid site they have two versions of the driver, 1.0.6 and 1.0.7. Are you saying that the older one supports 64 samples? If so I'm not sure whether it's worth downloading, if the newer one is more stable.
I was referring to Audio USB devices, but I see now that I'm wrong on that too. There is some drivers there, but none for any of the Fast Track line.

I'm not sure how you found that C400 driver. When I go to their driver page, there is nothing there for anything with the Fast Track name.

I just Googled "m-audio c400 driver windows"

I bet that beta driver you speak of is available somewhere.

So... is firewire making a come back?   Rumors of it's death may have been a bit hasty?

That means I will be "so cool" again.....   Sun is shining....this is gonna be a good day.

The last official driver is 6.0.8. It's working ok for me too, but the latency is driving me crazy. The Beta driver was 6.0.2.

You couldn't get the Beta driver unless you specifically signed up on their forum in the Beta section. It's gone now ... if you do a search, you'll find a link, but when you log in, it's dead.

I had absolutely 'zero' problems with it and I was certain it was going to be released as a final driver, but it never was. I could get 1.2ms RTL with my projects set to 96kHz and not a bit of trouble.

I went digging around on my 500GB backup drive after I found the actual file name on their forum last night and discovered I in fact did have the Beta driver on my backup drive after all.

I put it on Box.net. If you want to try it, here it is.

NOTE: This Beta driver is for the initial release of Win 7 64bit. I don't know if it will work if you have SP1 for Windows 7 installed.

It's a real pain in the butt to go backwards in driver versions for the FTU. You'll have to do a full uninstall and go in to your system registry and remove everything with the word M-Audio in it IIRC.
