I predict that I will finally make it to Colorado by way of Alien abduction.
COOL... I made it to Colorado in the early 70s. I hitchhiked from SW GA out there. I didn't really know where I was going,. I was sort of heading toward Estes Park but after sleeping under an interstate bridge and getting cold I decided to take the other road that went toward Colorado Springs. I hitched a ride with a couple in a VW van up to a canyon on the west side of Pikes Peak. I climbed up to the highest point I could see and at the top was a sort of flat rock about 8 or 10 ft across. At this point I had pretty much nothing but someone was with me. There was a Navy issue knife, sort of like a Swiss Army Knife laying on the rock and someone had scratched "One Way Jesus" on the rock and left the knife. I can't tell you how it made me feel... because, really, I had nothing left. The people in the van gave me their number and address and told me that when I got burned out I could call them. I did. I lived in their garage and ate some old "C" rations for a while. Then I made friends with a neighbor and started to share his apartment. I lived in Co Spgs and Manitou Spgs for about 9 months then hitched back to GA. It was a fun time, young and full of life... and living on the edge. I'd like to go back sometime... do you think you could ask the aliens to come by and pick me up too? It isn't that far from Lousiana to Georgia, huh?
Colorado is beautiful and the people are really great.
...or we could go to Montana and grow dental floss. I have some tweezers but I'd have to buy a pigmy pony.
