I was inspired to listen to Yeti by the same thread I think. I know for certain I'll never do that again.

Based on this post, I know I will not even make the mistake of a first listen.

How about The Clash.

They covered an awful lot of ground musically, and in just five albums.

I wonder if the clashed over the material?

Krimson came to mind as well as Lou Reed.  I think two bands that had really radical changes would have to be the Byrds and the Band.

Have to agree with the Zappa suggestion.

He covered most styles in his eclectic career

Amon Duul are a bit one dimensional for my taste, I mean I like them and all that but I'm pretty sure you'd find that even Rod Stewarts' catalogue is more diverse.

With one major difference. Rod Stewart is pop music. Amon Duul 2 in the early days is way more than just pop music! WAYYYYY MOREEEEE ...

The band with the most diverse catalogue in my collection would be Amon Duul to Amon Duul 2.

Thanks for this. I missed them. I found a few albums on Spotify but not the better ones. I did find them on Youtube though. I started listening to Yeti last night but it was late and I didn't finish.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNfpFuXBDLY

I may have to do some shopping.

Thanks again!

The original "Wolf City" LP started differently than the CD ... the first piece was the title cut and Renate's song was the first one on Side 2 of the LP. This makes the comparison to the "Vive La Trance" LP make a lot more sense ... when right after "Apocaliptyc Bore" they went into songs that had some humor in them. Nice, but not as great from that point on. You kinda knew that the band was over then. They are still around, but for my tastes it is all rehashes and they are not as focused as they were before. "Nada Moonshine #" is nice, though the band's web site does not recognize it ... they have some issues with some folks, and this album and another mixed with the jazz sister band of theirs, are in the doghouse. That album is called "Utopia" and the art work on it had a plane flying by, but it was missing a wing! ... enough said!

Hi,

Frank Zappa DOES deserve to be mentioned, although he is a rather hard taste to get into. The music itself, in just about in any album is amazing and very well composed and defined.  Over the years, this stuff has gotten "better", though not many folks have the diversity, talent or desire, to play more of his stuff. He also has a lot of classical music and untitled stuff still in the vaults that the trust has no idea how to show it or release it. Their warm ups and sound checks were usually way better than most concerts, and were always recorded.
