This year it was more of a home made ordinance festival or sumthin... we heard deep deep low bassy booms every fifteen minutes or so coming from just on the other side of the tree line.
We have that around here too Mike. It started last night around 9:00 and I still heard the occasional boom at 1:00 AM when I went to sleep. What I really hate are the people who feel the need to shoot off rockets for a week. It is worse around July 4th.
Some kids were running around doing what 13-14 year olds do... ringing a doorbell and running away. Some idiots in the neighborhood called the police. I have no idea who the kids were but I am smart enough to know it isn't a threat. I wish I had never moved to a neighborhood with an "association"... but my wife likes the house and I like my wife. Some neighbor even sent me a text telling me about it. I think they are really way too uptight.... then there are the people across the treeline, like your neighbors who get off on explosions. Auto gunfire would make me call the police too.
What I really don't understand is that I thought fireworks were illegal in GA, there are no fireworks stores but a week or two before the 4th they set up big tents in a shopping center lot or two and sell all kinds of fireworks. I guess they drive to Alabama to get fireworks for New Years, maybe that is why they don't shoot them off for a week at new years.
We were in Cologne, Germany a few years ago at new years and they are REALLY crazy there. There is no organized fireworks and they sell the big stuff to anyone. They go down to the Rhine and everyone shoots off rockets etc for about 6 hours. Around midnight is was a constant roar. They seem to have more freedom, they still had cigarette machines around outside, they sell beer in fast food resturants, and carry a bottle with them on public transportation after lunch. They don't seem to feel the need to protect everyone from everything.
Anyway, I hope there are no booms tonight. Since it is raining, maybe it will be quiet.
