Hey guys, I'm looking for a nice Pink Floyd type organ for background chords.  Is there a preset in one of the SONAR X2 prepackaged soft synths that you can point me to?  Something specific in Dimension Pro for instance?

Which floyd organs?  They used just about everything at one time or another.

Rapture has a lot more organs than DimPro.  I don't think it is still  on sale, but for $19 it is a solution.  That's why it was a no-brainer if you don't use synths.  I'm using organ 5 preset for a track right now, tho I made it wheezier w/ some pitch and rez lfo.  And the Jimmy preset is very useful, tho maybe not so much for floyd.

In DimPro, I'm not really sure what I'd use, but as I recall there are some organish Pads more than the Key presets.

In the very early days of Pink they used the Farfisa organ. You can find a free vst version of this organ thru a search. I don't for the life of me remember the web page but they have both a free version of the Farfisa and the Vox Continental that are not bad at all.

Wow, I just discovered this little treasure.  Check out the .pdf file in this link:

Even better is this, a free VST that does that very nice organ sound on 'Crazy Diamonds' would you believe.

It sounds like a nice organ sound with a nice slow Leslie thing going on. (great stereo too) It works very nicely. I am on a 32 Bit system and it works fine there but you may have to adapt if you are on 64 bit.

Richard Wright (Bless his Soul) was a bit of a later Kurzweil fan too. I loved all his playing. Very nice, underrated and very tasteful.

I have used this VST in some pop productions (more ballad) and the organ sound always sits nicely with a nice mix.

Update: I have been fiddling around with it and it is really a great slow setting (Chorale) Leslie sort of sound. It is basically one sound but you can change a lot about how it is modulated. 'Butter' and 'Cream' settings are quite different. The 'Milk' setting allows for a lot of initial starting options. Very nice slow moving Leslie effects can be heard. Put a classy longish reverb on it and it can sound even better. It is great when you modulate it further with things like 'Dimension D'

I listened to the demo and it sounds very much like what I'm after.  I have not installed it yet but, I downloaded the zip and found that it contains documentation files as well as a single .dll.  I assume I need to put the .dll into my vst plugin directory and have SONAR scan for it...correct?

Yes, the best kind of installer there is, a simple copy of the dll into your VST scan path. I like to create separate directories by vendor in the Vstplugins directory so I do not have one huge directory of dll's but it is not necessary.
