Always built my own DAWs and successfully optimised them for audio but having not done so for a few years what's going on with the BIOS?!!
Opened up the BIOS setup on my ASUS Z87-K and it may as well be in Swahili!!

Feeling old and like a luddite all of a sudden.

I looked into the BIOS utility on my MB before buying it as I figured if something went wrong, I didn't want to be refering to a Swahili to English dictionary.

The AzRock board I used in my build has a great "user friendly" BIOS utility that even a dimwit as myself can easily understand.

Jeff, looks like Google is going to be your new BIOS friend huh?

Thanks to Google it's all running great.
Hardly troubling those cpu meters in Sonar whilst mixing at a buffer setting of 64 instead of the 512 I needed on the old system.

Luxury!

Must now resist the temptation to add loads of extra plugins to my mixes just because I can!!

Resistance is futile!!! :)

I have G.A.S and knowing that my machine can handle almost anything I throw at it, I save up on beans for my G.A.S.

It's probably UEFI.  It's been on servers for a while--I think it came out with 64bit processors.  I only had a chance to scan this article, but it may answer a few questions.

You're welcome.  I also have to give it a proper read.  I only had time to scan it when I found it.
