The Maillard Reaction

I have no idea how I stumbled on this, but I was following some other link to YouTube this morning and ended up here:

Oh My Gosh... I just love seeing a plain old fashioned fantastic performance of heart felt songs. I get so inspired by thinking that great music is happening every day in the widest variety of places and I enjoy thinking that much of it is performed like this, at face value, and without the conceit of fashion or novelty.

If I can stumble on music like this on Youtube on any given Sunday...well I'm thinking it's gonna be a great year!

Happy New Year!

best regards,
mike

Nice find Mike. She does have a great voice and great tunes. I would be on cloud-9 if I happened on a nightclub with Eva and the group performing.

Best I could find is that "Blues Alley" is located in Georgetown neighborhood of Washington D.C.

Yea, there are a lot of great 'unknowns' out there.

Damn. Did a further search on Eva and found that she passed away in 1996. Bummer. Let her music and spirit live on!

Thanks for sharing one of the worlds most gifted, truly talented artist. If it wasn't for Mike I would not have ever heard of Eva....

Very sad :( , yet again the powers that be let slip-by a truly great talent; she had lived in obscurity throughout her lifetime; it wasn't until after her death that her talent finally received greater recognition; Platinum (1.5 million sales) 1998.....

As they say in this ruthless business; "it takes more then talent".... a child only needs to look good on YouTube and sound barely half-good to get signed up to a 360 deal and be molded and then worked like a puppet. Meanwhile; 'truly' naturally gifted, most talented artists such as Eva will be lucky to see the light of day.

Indeed, I only learned about her life story after posting here and then going off to read more.

I initially imagined the video was contemporary.

I feel lucky to have stumbled on that video.

best,
mike
