I'm surprised to find out that he was a neighbor.  Rest in Peace, Lee.

Hmmm, I was not immediately familiar with him, or his band. So I looked him up. I will confess, for the last 44 years, I thought "In A Gadda Da Vida" was "In the Garden of Eden".

Yep!  Iron Butterfly was formed in San Diego with Doug Ingle on keyboards (he's the one who wrote In A Gadda Da Vida).

How close to me were they?  Well, at one time in my brief band career, Doug Ingle was our drummer (because we already had a killer keyboardist).  Not the same guy though, but his son who I went to high school with (same year and everything).  He left soon after to join a band where he could play keyboards (if I remember correctly, the only drummer I was in a band with that didn't end up in jail or died early - lol!).

Doug Ingle 2.0?

Pffft. I played with Burleigh Drummond 1.0.
