''Mom will be 97 in Feb and Dad is 94''

There's your answer.

They can do, or say, whatever they want. They've earned it.

''younger people cannot just put their lives on hold for their convenience.''

Turn that around, and remember what they did for you, when you were young.

Jobow, it's an unfortunate situation, but one that only you and your family can truly understand. It will take a lot of patience , charity, and humility on everyones part in complying with your parents wishes (even if they seem unreasonable). Try to keep things as positive as possible and make the best of the situation in the short time you're spending with them. Do your best to make them happy.

Best of luck and I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!!!

Thanks... I do and I will. It just gets confusing sometimes when I know they could be happier and safer but no one else wants to admit it.

That is what I needed... a pep talk. Thanks again.

@ James... I know, and thanks. I have their interests at heart.

Thanks again,

My parents are gone now. But my out-laws are wonderfully accepting of me as their "son". No problems here.

I missed the OP, but I've only got one left (Mom's 83) and we talk several times a day - coincidentally around the times she's supposed to be taking her medications - lol.  I try to see her at least once a week.
