I recently rebuilt my DAW, and was re-installing my plugs. And one (a drum plug) would not load one of the disks? I found a site on-line that does "disk repair?" So I bought it... The repair was cheap, a couple of bux? But I paid to ship it back quick, and ship it there quick (way more than the cost of the repair)
 
I am hopeful that it will work, there's no guarantee? But I expect it will work (the disk was not badly damaged. 
 
So we all have lots of SW, and lots of it is on disks? I hope it all reloads well, but if it doesn't? You may be in a boat with me? And I'm hungry... And bigger? And I have a knife? And a grille? I'm just saying... I hope you never have a damaged disk, but in some cases, it's a good bet to give it a go. I'll get mine back mid week (counting on it that it will load.)

Hope it works out for you.  I presume by 'disk' you mean 'CDROM'
 
I make copies of important software so that reduces the probability of data loss.
 
Other option might be to contact the company (the drum plug) and ask if they will re-send, if the repair doesn't work.

Oh wait..... you said Disk.
 
Never mind.

The information on the disk is actually not stamped on the bottom or "silver" side of the disk.  It is placed on the opposite side and the bottom is just a big layer of clear plastic to protect the information.  That is the only reason scratch repair is effective,  the information usually isn't damaged, just the laser's ability to read it is.  

I got it back and they did a great job. I recommend their service highly. They were courteous, prompt, and effective.
