Local news is chock full of examples of poor web design! This looks like it was laid out in 1998 or so. 

while I can understand their frustration at the crime...... giving the police standing orders to check everyone on the street is a violation of the bill of rights concerning unreasonable search and seizure. 

Reasonable susp i c ion is required for law enforcement to stop and question someone on the streets. Unless they actually declare a state of Martial Law.... this will run afoul of that pesky constitution in a hurry. 

armed citizens, carrying concealed weapons and using them or simply pulling and pointing them, on those with criminal intent will stop the crime spree rapidly.... even punks don't want to die or get shot. 

Here's what I see happening.
All the decent, law abiding citizens will get tired of being harassed every time they run out for milk.
Loads of complaints and lawsuits going on.

All the criminal activity moves one town over. Business as usual.
Nothing solved just more problems created.

Might look good on paper but isn't going to work so well in a real life application.

Can't wait to see the fall out from this little "oops'.

Nobody cries over chopped bagpipes.

I can honestly see society headed more toward gated communities with private security. Let's face it, no matter how advanced civilization gets there are always going to be people who behave like feral savages. And no amount of deterrent will stop them. Or maybe we can just banish the feral types to some fenced off wilderness?

We've already done that, Sharke.  We call that place, "Earth".

Isn't that how Australia started? 

No offence to our fellow Aussies, I'm just saying that's all.
