AMEN!!! Danny

Thats the key to it all  and its what separates artists and makes them their own thing and sound IMO   LOL

Heh... I was born to bend minds. I used to take crap all the time from my bands for making things "too complex" but I stood my ground and once things came together everyone, including the fans, loved it. That Beepster Creep thingy I posted was me being as simplistic as I can for the sake of learning.

Things is gonna get wacky.

Yep, well said Mike. I think that most artists just do what they do...and over time, they evolve into this "thing" while not even realizing they are re-defining the face of music. LOL! I think if you try too hard, or try to be different for the sake of being different, you've already lost. I made up my mind years ago that if what I do makes me tri-pod on 3 legs at the end of it all, I've done my job. LOL! :) Can't ask for much more because at my age, well, let's just say you don't see much tri-podding anymore. Hahahaha! ;)

Well... see the thing is I have to try really hard to sound "normal". I've always been a little... urm... odd. That's part of the reason I delved so hard into theory these past years. I wasn't able to keep up with simple progressions but could blaze through my own insanity.

IDK... you'd have to have seen what I was up to in my younger years to really see how crazy it all was. Hope that doesn't sound... pompus? Weird? Hard to describe. Cheers.

NO PROB Brother,
Chattin' away is what its all about

You guys have settled me into thinking its worth the jump to X2 and so I will-As soon as I get my system back.

The only other things for me to decide after Fireberd got me straightened out is that I need to get a new version of Windows cause my discs are trashed  But thats an entire new thread which Jim has answered outside of worrying about how long Win7 will be around (which I think will still be a good few years anyway)

By then it WILL be time for a new setup

When I was checking out OS's for my DAW I was originally gonna snag Win 7 Ultimate (because hey... Ultimate! It's gotta be the shiz, right?) but after some research it turned out Ultimate will only be supported until 2015 whereas Win 7 Home and Pro will be supported until 2018. At least that was the scoop last time I checked. You should be able to find that on MS's website.

I bought Pro... and it's great. Personally I would trust 8 just yet. I think it might go the way of Vista which is having MS support dropped rather quickly... and more importantly the manufacturers and software makers are dropping support already.

But I'm just a hack so I'd go with whatever Jim is saying.

Cheers.... oh and you're gonna love X2. It's spiffy.

From what Jim is saying as far as running Sonar,

Home Premium runs supporting upto 16GB on Memory,  thats the max I can do with my system so no need to go higher.  For Sonar I wouldnt benefit a bit to go outside of Home Premium so why spand the cash.

Sonar is all I do on this system outside of going online to CAKEWALK to download updates/patches and sometimes I do that with a flash drive off of my laptop so really I could yank the WIFI card and eliminate that problem all together  LOL

But anyway, thats what I have gathered as far as operating systems between Home Prem, Pro and Ulimate and its benefits running Sonar

I went with Pro because of the XP mode so if I really need to I can open up older programs or whatever. Apparently Pro doesn't have some of the multimedia stuff Home does though. Not sure how that'll effect me as I go along but Media Player seems to be doing what I need.

I was kind of just flying by the seat of my pants when I built the thing though. Fortunately I had a friend helping and everything all worked out.

Cheers, dude.
