That is one fine reason to wear a hat of any kind when you are working.

In my business I often find myself in attics and other places where I often don't notice there is a rafter or support beam.... wooden or metal... right about head level as I'm walking down the walkway in the dark with my flashlight shining on the floor so I can see where I'm stepping.

BANG...

slam right into it with my face or forehead...and sometimes I do kinda stand up right under them too.  Hurts  quite a bit...... but a hat of any kind will cushion the impact and will keep you from gashing your scalp wide open.

The interesting thing is.... once you slam into the object.... you tend to remember it's there.... sometimes... definitely after the second such impact, it becomes so much easier to remember it's location.

Bub, some years back I got into a scrape with a big, bad German dude...I include
"German" because he'd want that lol...he had a most beautiful sister as I vividly recall...anyway, it was a very bad round for longer than I really care to remember and
there was not a winner. I wound up with a concusion and couldn't  stand for three
days. I'd stand but was still aware enough to sit back down.
I can tell you- I'd rather ram me head into cabinets than deal with him again....I imagine
she is still most beautiful too. :)

I'm pretty sure things would have been worse if it wasn't a known fact that his mom
loved it when I played my guitar for her.
Those Germanic women are some of the most beautiful on the planet, but those huge hands have got to go! Makes ya feel inferior if ya know what I mean. (My God, I think I took a more severe blow to the head than I care to recollect.)

Oh ... it wasn't this guy was it?

Did you go to the doctor yet, Bub?

@spacey... While reading that story I thought about the scrap on Deadwood between "The Colonel" and Al's sidekick.

Man was that ever a good show. Wish they had made more.

I've been in a few tussles when I was younger but never really had the stomach for it. Don't think I could fight my way out of a wet paper bag these days.
