Already have an 800W amp.

I'll build this to my own specifications, as small as possible. Hope it will work.

Alex,

I used to play the neck pickup of my Alembic thru one side of a Crown DC-300A and (150watts/side) then into a Gauss 18" folded horn Sun cabinet like this:

That thing could rumble

Due to the nostalgia this fred brought about, I looked for a pic of what else I used at the time.

For the bridge pickup I used this 4x12 bass cabinet powered by the other side of the Crown amp:

It's even better when you put two subwoofers at juuuuust the right distance apart that they cause the sound waves to combine into one much bigger wave (that also happens to be lower than you can hear and large enough to not be noticeable close to the source).

If you have enough power available (and I did at one time), I tried turning things up because we couldn't hear the bass for some reason.  Then the next door neighbor starts pounding on the front door wanting to know what in the hell we were doing because all of the dishes, windows and other things were vibrating all over his house.  Separating the subwoofers into opposite corners of the large room fixed the problem but, ironically, they had both been put against the wall farthest from this guys house to reduce the chance of disturbing him.  It's funny now.  Heh...

Hi,

That's almost as big as the woofer on my AMT-Heil speaker ... that weights a ton ... to the point where the folks here in Portland at JaMac who re-coned the speaker a second time in 30 years, told me that they don't make those things with a magnet that big!

Me loves good speakers, and specially my AMT Heils ... almost 40 years ... and they blew away my old roomate after I got them re-done, and I immediately put on Porcupine Tree's Deadwing, and blew him out quickly ... I kept telling him that he had too much wax in his ears from listening to mp3's on his eekpods!

cool! I never heard 18's I used to have peavey 15" scoops in a PA we used to haul around with a truck. 2 2x12's reverse mount, 2 2x15 scoops (these may have been 1 15 in each cabinet), 2 radial horns and a 3 way crossover. This was per side. we did crowns too but I don't remember the model number. 6 amps (2 high, 2 mid, 2 low) per side. Ah the rock days! lol
