If you could go back to 1975 and figure out the costs to build you own studio; 24 or 16 Track Reel, 24 chn Mixer, Outboard, Guitars, Amp, Drum Kit, Keyboards, speakers and good microphones, the costs for all that gear would easily amount to about $20,000 though some of that gear be second-hand. + that gear would require attention to detail maintenance $$$? * Fast forward to 2012 and I have PC + Software + some second-hand gear all for about $2,500 and almost all regular maintenance is virtually cost free. In regards to the project studio; we are living in great times and it will get even better in future as computers + Interfaces + software advances further along with reductions in costs.
