Just finished reading an interview with him. His final statement.

"I hope I can still do Jimmy Page better than anybody else. That's the most important thing, isn't it?, As long as I can still be the best Jimmy Page there is, that's all right."

So, (aside from craigb's infamous "I'm Bapu" photo) I believe I have the market cornered on being the best Bapu there is.

This reminds me. I had struggled with my French class my sophomore year of high school. I ended up having to make it up in summer school becuase I failed the final. Can you imagine me? An Italian guy trying to learn to speak French? 




Anyway .... I got the highest grade in the summer school French class. I was pretty proud of myself.




At the end of the 6 week classes I showed my mom my report card.... I had the highest grade in the class!!! 

Only people who failed french went to summer school.


So when I showed my mom this great report card and highest rank ... My mothers reaction ....


"Big deal. So you're the smartest dummy" 


Yup 


I am the best I can be .. Just like Jimmy Page and Bapu .

Back when he was a session musician. She said every party they went to ended up with everyone sat cross legged in a circle around Jimmy playing acoustic guitar. Damn hippies!

I like Jimmy and a lot of the work he did ... and I posted the review of "It's Goona Get Loud" here for all you folks to read/check ... and I really think that folks like him are a dying breed ... I'm not sure that we're going to see music that was so explosive and so strong, in our time any more ... there is a lot of loud music and a lot of this and that ... but not a lot of originality any more, and in the end, the work they did was all very good and worth while.
 
Personally, I don't think that Jimmy needs to prove anything to anyone ... and his musicianship speaks for itself, and it is shown in that film from his early days on ... but it took a special mix of 4 folks to make it happen ... because it didn't when he was with the Yardbirds, which is now clear why ... that group was controlled by the music company ... not the musicians! Led Zeppelin was all about the musicians! And that, more than likely, is something that Jimmy knew right off the bat!
