I've got some rage going, but I'm controlling it.
I'm pissed off because I've spent the last 14 years learning and working with Cakewalk/Sonar. And I've gotten good at it. The learning curve to move to another DAW will be terribly problematic - the main benefit of being familiar with the DAW is that you know what you NEED to do to create the art that's currently in your grasp. If you have to fiddle, fail, and find, by the time you get set up the muse may have left!
I can't imagine the professional ramifications if I was a studio that ran Sonar, loyally flying the flag instead of PT!
Phillips/Gibson owes us nothing (except for those still paying for monthly upgrades). They don't owe me an apology or a refund. I bought a great product. They made a business decision to stop supporting it. They are taking their focus from musicians, and putting it towards the commercial entertainment products.
They have devalued my custom, which they have every right to do. And in return, I have devalued THEM and will boycott Phillips, Gibson, and their subsidiaries.
I really hope somebody buys Cakewalk, but if it's gotten to this point I doubt anything will come of it.
