If someone had a reason to be upset, I think I'd qualify highly!  Ha!  I literally upgraded to the yearly subscription less than a month ago!  I spent $299!  My version of SPLAT from October, 2016 was working flawlessly!  Since I upgraded, I'm having a few issues!  AND, I've been a licensed user as a professional since version 7!  I have a HUGE amount of work for ALL my clients and ALL in Cakewalk format!

But as I see it, life goes on.  I'm looking to the future in a sense that all of my (now legacy) projects will have to be maintained- somehow.  I'll HAVE to keep a PC with at minimum Windows 10 from now until I'm done!  So, I'm actively looking at other DAW's so that I DON'T continue to record projects in software that will no longer be maintained!  That's the brutal reality.

I wonder if there's a way to get Izotope into the idea of buying and continuing development of Cakewalk. I believe they're located in the same city, and doesn't Dan Gonzalez (who used to work for Cakewalk) now work for Izotope? They just came out with the Spire recording system; maybe they'd be interested in getting into the desktop DAW market? I wouldn't have a clue about who to contact over there, but I'll do some searching.

IIRC Alex Westner Cakewalk’s VP Product Strategy & Innovation  (!) Only quite recently jumped from the good ship Izotope and  back aboard the good ship Cakewalk  having previously jumped from the good ship Cakewalk onto the good ship Izotope and probably the less said about that now, the better.

Hey, mebbe he was still really working for Izotope all along.......watch this space!!

Be careful what you wish for in regards to Microsoft buying Cakewalk.
If that happens, their goal will be to create a Windows app to compete with Garage Band.

It would still be better than no more SONAR, ever
Not a 1st choice, but there might not be that many interested parties.

That's a bad thought.  Eventually PC users had to part with Logic.  Their alternative was to buy a Mac and then Apple thought they could charge of $900 for a license. They eventually dropped the price.

So far I have not bought Sony products now developed by Magix.

MS is also bad a copying Apple's ideas.

Someone else had suggested Magix but the already own Samplitude and Music Maker.

(Edited for content, hopefully it won't get deleted this time) Excuse my bluntness and I say this out of love but....Seriously!?! This is the same group who losses it if an update doesn't contain their particular fix. The same group who lost it when the secret announcement teased a few years back wasn't what they had dreamed up in their own heads. The same group of people who whine that one group of users get a discount or free plugin they've had for over a year. Now Gibson is ready to flush Cakewalk down the toilet and all I'm hearing is... SAD?!?... Really?!?... Sad!?!...Forget sad!

Some of us have been loyal costumers since before computer music was a real thing and hardware was still king. Trying to convince our friends that this was the future.

Some of you are probably thinking ..."but Fresh, what can we do about it?" ...My answer is... something, anything but say "aw sad" and walking away! This is the modern day of the internet and social media. Get enough voices behind a movement and things can happen. Movies have been funded, TV shows have been brought back from the dead. Presidential campaigns have been won and lost...etc.

And to this statement "your software will continue to work normally"...I love you guys but let's be real, nobody wants a software product without development or support. There are a ton of great products out there that technically still work but no one will touch with a 10ft pole and a hazmat suit on. Project5, Kinetic, Shortcircuit sampler, Alchemy for win, etc. One bad windows update and you're dead in the water.

Some of us have based our livelihood on Cakewalk products and have been loyal to a fault for decades just get a " Oh well, it's been fun guys" for our troubles and tons of cash spent on upgrades and add on products.

I don't know exactly what we can do to save Cakewalk but we've got to do something people. Forget sad..get mad...get motivated...get organized. Let's make something happen. Who's with me. #savecakewalk

I'm with you all the way! It's certainly worse for us blind users who only use Windows. I mean, I've already tried a Mac, but it conflicts with JAWS.

Microsoft think of all the Sonar users going over to the dark side...  I sense a disturbance in the Microsoft Windows force.  Don't miss this chance!

What good is outrage gonna do?

Unfortunately, this is what the sheep that have been brainwashed into believing is the path to social change.  In reality, it only serves to divide people on topics, encourage entropy (and anarchy) which actually leads people who still have a brain to strongly oppose whatever position is being promoted.  Naturally, the Elite love it; divide and conquer.
