I had it in my back pocket and sat down on it. I've done it many times, well a few times. Usually part of the back cover snaps loose and I snap it back together. This time only a little of the bottom of the screen works.. the top 7/8ths or so stays on one of the stupid pictures they put on it when it is off.

Going to do some research to see if there may be a fix but I don't have a lot of hope for it... and I use it ALL the time.

CRAP!!!

That's what you are supposed to do with it so you can buy another one.

It's a design feature.

I almost bought a kindle until I realized that I'm quite happy using the kindle app on my iPhone.

I keep looking at those things but I can never figure something out - is it possible to connect to a network drive with any of those types of thingies? I have about 800,000 .pdf manuals (for every device I own), and also books and stuff on my share drive and it would be cool if I could easily access them all with a tablet thingy.

But as far as I can tell, it seems like they mostly won't let you just do that and want you to put everything into their "cloud" instead. Which is needlessly stupid and time consuming and thus a deal breaker for me.

Now I understand Apple likes to make people do certain stupid things to conform to their business model because they're just so user-friendly. But does Amazon and everyone else also do this too? I'm just not going to find all my files and spend a year uploading them to a cloud or copying them or whatever when I already have them shared for easy access.

It's not a very pretty sight but at least you'll realise you are not alone.

It slips perfectly into the back pocket of a pair of Lee jeans! I may have to get some sort of thin cover. The Moko looks like it might keep me from breaking the new one and maybe still fit in my pocket. I am going with the paperwhite WIFI model this time. The one I broke was a keyboard model. They have the same size screen only this one is lighted, has higher resolution but now speakers. I didn't use the speakers anyway and it has 2g memory instead of 4g but 2g holds 1,100 books... and since I store them on the cloud once I've read them... what do I need more storage for. Oh well... another 139 bucks...

I almost broke my wife's the day she got it.

The case that it's in has the charger in the binder part of the case. I didn't know that and grabbed the kindle like a book page to flip it over to see the back of it and she let out a yelp. Apparently the charger is in the binding and I don't know if all of them are this way, but this particular case she got, the kindle just flops around freely while attached to the charger and you can break the charger contacts off.

Really bad design in my opinion.

I looked it up, I was hoping for a fix then I realized from the pix that I had broken the screen... oh well... I just started another L'Amour novel. I guess it will have to wait.

About the PDFs and other formets there free utilities to convert anything to a .mobi file and put it on the kindle. I don't know about cloud storage but some of the readers have a LOT more storage if you need it.
