Yeah..the ones I've seen are DC. I've read others
talking about torque/or lack of.

Price and what ya get?...each has to decide that.
I wasn't going to pay them to do what I decided I could do better and for less.

Fortunately we're not talking rocket science here LOL.

:-)

If they were reputed to work well I could find value in the pricing.

It's the insinuations that they don't that makes the price seem high.

That's why I've been trying to ask a guy that I know and trust about my gut instinct that there is a real life need for a more powerful motor. :-)

best regards,
mike

I bet I know why that guy has been hesitant in answering...(lol)
He probably knows that there is tension envolved and some may be satisfied and
some wouldn't.
"Tension" is a major factor in winding and an issue to deal with whether or not
one is hand winding or with a traverse and tensioner.

I did not want torque, or lack of specifically, being an issue for me. (plus it had the desired rpm capability I wanted)
There is also the issue that bobbins are not round so the issue of breaking wire
is or can be a major problem for winders.

I found the motor I chose supplies smooth speed under my tension. I don't know what
it would supply you.

This is not fair..  You're making me think about all the problems and think of solutions and my own design for a winder..

... and I don't even want one...   but I see I'm going to end up making one just because I've got all these ideas..!!

LOL....do ya fish?....if ya do then try to use that spin casting reel in the design.

You're too slow,  my design (still in my head) already uses that method, along with a way to move the bobbin to produce custom winding patterns.
